The overall governance of the Heretaunga Kindergarten Association is the responsibility of the Board which is accountable to the Association Kindergarten community.

The Board is elected biannually on a rotation annually, and has a maximum membership of 7. Of the 7, 6 are community representatives and 1 is a Teacher elected bi-annually by the staff. The Management team attend Board meetings but do not have voting rights.

The Board delegates day to day management of the Association to the General Manager. The Board employs and monitors the performance of the General Manager. The General Manager is delegated the responsibility of all other employees.
