The Role of Committees
Kindergartens are supported by a Committee of parents and whanau who are elected annually.
The Committee is responsible for fundraising for any major projects that are outside of the annual budget for the kindergarten applying for grants, simple maintenance and supporting the teachers.
New committee members are welcome at any time during the year and it is a great way to get to know people, to learn more about the environment your children are in and to participate in your committees activities.
Committees are a valuable resource to their kindergarten community.
Committee meetings are held once a month in the kindergartens outside of the kindergarten hours.
For more information on committees talk to the teachers or refer to the kindergarten handbook which is located in the kindergarten.
Friends of the Kindergarten
Where Kindergartens are unable to form a Committee, a ‘Friends of the Kindergarten’ group can be formed. This is a more informal group who meet on a needs basis and focus primarily on fundraising activities and social events for the Kindergarten.
